Use of MD Simulation for Investigating Diffusion Behaviors between Virgin Asphalt and Recycled Asphalt Mastic

چکیده
The study aims at investigating diffusion behaviors between virgin asphalt and recycled mastic (RAM) an atomistic scale. Firstly, a mutual model of asphalt–RAM considering the actual mass ratio filler to binder (F/A) condition was developed by molecular dynamic (MD)simulation. Secondly, indexes relative concentration (RC), radial distribution function (RDF) mean square displacement (MSD) were used analyze arrangement characteristics polar components in processes different temperatures. Then, blending efficiency evaluated Fick’s second law binding energy. results indicate that reliability RAM validated thermodynamics properties. RC RDF show direction is not changed presence mineral fillers. However, it will inhibit occurrence behaviors, aggregation molecules zone increases due adsorption fillers, which would become barrier diffusion. development MSD indicates coefficients both virgin–aged are on rise with increase temperature. Compared asphalt, migration speed relatively slow. According energy, dominated nonpolar components. existence fillers has greatest effect It suggested rejuvenator containing more aromatic should be added or temperature controlled within 433.15–443.15 K promote efficiency. research contribute deeper understanding about asphalt–RAM, serving as benchmark for further rejuvenation using computational experiments.

Use of Recycled and Waste Fibers in Asphalt Concrete
A significant problem associated with asphalt concrete mixtures is the lack of durability resulting from an inadequate asphalt cement content. Additional asphalt cement added to increase durability results in flushing, bleeding and a significant loss In stability. Fibers have been used in stone matrix asphalt and open-graded friction course pavements successfully throughout Europe to allow high...

Stone Mastic Asphalt Pavement Technology for the New Millennium
Since the 1960s, Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) pavement surfaces have been used successfully in Germany on heavily trafficked roads. Because of its excellent performance characteristics, road authorities in Germany as well as major European Countries quickly adopted SMA as a standard wearing course. As a consequence of an asphalt study tour in Europe of an American delegation in 1990, SMA test sec...

This study investigated the effect of high asphalt binder replacement for a low N-design asphalt mixture including RAP and RAS on performance indicators such as permanent deformation, fracture, fatigue potentials, and stiffness, was studied. An experimental program included complex modulus, fracture, overlay reflective cracking resistance, wheel track permanent deformations, and push-pull fatig...
متن کاملMacroscopic constitutive law for Mastic Asphalt Mixtures from multiscale modeling
A well established framework of an uncoupled hierarchical modeling approach is adopted here for the prediction of macroscopic material parameters of the Generalized Leonov (GL) constitutive model intended for the analysis of flexible pavements at both moderate and elevated temperature regimes. To that end, a recently introduced concept of a statistically equivalent periodic unit cell (SEPUC) is...
